With health care reform and the future of the Affordable Care Act still stuck in the political gridlock of Washington, DC, this year’s advocacy symposium will focus on this contentious topic. Health Care Reform 2.0: Examining the Challenges and Opportunities for Spine Care Providers in a New Health Care System will examine the prospect of full or partial repeal of the ACA and how this might affect health care service delivery, patient access, coverage and reimbursement.
To offer an insider’s perspective on the politics and the economics of health care reform, the Guest Speaker for this year’s symposium will be Lawrence “Larry” Kudlow, CNBC Senior Contributor and host of radio’s “The Larry Kudlow Show.” He is also a nationally syndicated columnist and contributing editor to National Review magazine, as well as a columnist and economics editor for National Review Online.
A familiar face in Washington, DC, and on Wall Street, and a renowned free-market, supply-side economist, Kudlow believes that, in spite of the slow progress in enacting new legislation, health care reform is headed in the right direction.
“Through all the complexity of health care reform, we should not lose sight of the fact that, however amended, mandates will be abolished, the door will open to free market choice and competition, universal access will be provided, the poor and the sick will be protected and taxes will be slashed,” Kudlow said. “All of this will give us a stronger health system and a faster growing economy.”
Also during the symposium, panelists will discuss whether certain provisions within the ACA can be salvaged or if Congress must develop new policies to deliver on the promises of controlling costs and expanding coverage. They will explore what alternatives are being proposed, how long it might take to develop a unified plan to address the underlying concerns with the law and how this could impact spine care providers and their patients.
The symposium will take place Wednesday, October 25, from 10:35 am – 12 pm. Immediately following the symposium, SpinePAC will hold its annual luncheon, during which Kudlow will sign copies of his latest book, JFK and the Reagan Revolution: A Secret History of American Prosperity, for anyone who makes a SpinePAC donation during registration for NASS2017.
